Rwanda is one of only three countries in the world where the critically endangered mountain gorillas live. African gorilla trek safari in Rwanda is often described as “life-changing” and with good reason. With only an estimated 880 Gorillas left in the world, to see these gentle creatures in their natural habitat are a truly unique moment.

Itinerary

Day 1 & 2: Arrive Kigali, Rwanda

Our carefully orchestrated African gorilla trek safari begin as we fly you from Nairobi capital to Kigali, capital city of Rwanda before heading northwest to the Virunga National Park, a stately chain of jungle volcanoes that top out at the Mount Karisimbi’s 14,787 feet. We’ll settle in to the superb Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, a fine base for our wanderings in these almost supernaturally verdant precincts.
Our next day, led by our guide and his crew, we begin making our way through forest of trailing vines, trilling birds calls, giant lobelia and mossy hagenia trees walking toward an encounter with one of the park’s families of the mountain gorillas; no more than eight people are allowed to visit any given family for more than an hour each day.

Day 3: Depart Kigali, Rwanda

We’ll make the drive to Kigali airport and fly you to NBO airport for your homeward flights.

Gorilla Permits

It’s important to book your gorilla permit at least 3 - 4 months in advance so you are assured of your spot when booking this safari and be ready early. A minimum of 15 years of age applies for gorilla trekking and, once purchased, permits cannot be refunded or inter-changed. Please do not hesitate to ask our reservations team if you require any assistance.
